Re-locatable Turntable

5 February 2010

2010 has started off with a flurry of activity with the Leighton Contractors Re-locatable turntable installation being completed in the first week of January 2010. The 9M diameter turntable is expected to service up to 50 x 30 Tonne concrete truck deliveries per day, with an additional daily load of 50 other truck deliveries servicing the site. At this stage it is estimated that up to 1 minute will be saved on each truck movement which will equate to a massive time saving and loading dock capacity over a 15 month build phase

.The TTR9000 was specially designed for this project because of the very tight restrictions on the site. As the turntable was to be placed on an existing suspended slab and we could not excavate a pit the height of the turntable was the key to a successful design. ATC redesigned our market leading inground Truck Turntable which has a height of 400mm to a 250mm overall height. ATC then designed a 360 degree ramping system to service the turntable and a specially designed drive system to work with the new 250mm overall height.

A normal Truck Turntable installation would take 5-6 days without the ramp system but with this fully operation dock ATC was required to install the turntable and ramp system over a weekend.

The client has indicated that due to the success of the installation the turntable will remain in the loading dock after the site has been completed to continue servicing the truck deliveries to the site.
